“When you have a resentment of grievance or are feeling hostility towards anyone or any of the other toxic emotions guilt, shame, depression or fear, these create the release of hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol which have effects both on the cardio-vascular system and also on the immune system. You become immunocompromised and even your platelettes get jittery with high levels of adrenaline and they start the clotting cascade which can lead to cardiovascular illness, heart attacks and strokes.
On the other hand when you forgive, which is letting go off the burden of judgement then everything settles down; the hormones that are associated with those stressful responses and now there’s evidence that you release other kinds of neurotransmitters which are immunomodulators and your body starts to return to homeostasis: self-regulation and self-healing…”
