- In England and Wales, the number of divorces increased by 0.5% in 2012 compared with the previous year (117,558 to 118,140)
- There was a decrease of 19% in 2012 per thousand married population compared to 2002
- For those married in 1972, 22% of marriages had ended in divorce by their 15th wedding
anniversary whereas for those married in 1997, almost a third of marriages had ended by this
time.
