Divorce has long been touted as being almost inevitable for couples getting married in recent years, with the phrase “1 in 2 marriages end in divorce” said far too often.

However, it may surprise some of you to learn that divorce is no longer on the rise for couples. In fact, quite the opposite.

Currently, the gap between marriages and divorces is at its widest in over twenty years, and while the marriage-divorce ratio is still 2:1, now only 44% of marriages are resulting in separation, and the numbers look to keep on dropping.

In fact, the relationship support experts Relate, after surveying over 5,000 people across the UK, found that 78% of those 5,000 felt happy and even perfect about their relationship, and 75% said they were in a satisfying relationship.

The infographic below lays out all this positive information for you, as well as the top 10 most typical issues marriages have to deal with, and the top 7 signs your marriage is heading down a bad path that you should definitely be aware of.

Being aware of these signs can help you tackle any relationship issues before they become unfixable, and help you resolve them.
